Computational methods

Synopsis: Introduction to modern algebra. Introduction to topological vector spaces, geometrical interpretations. Linear operators and their adjoints; functionals. Projection method for solving linear operator equations; connection with variational method. Introduction to finite element methods, both volume and boundary. Application to scalar and vector field problems in electromagnetics and other areas of engineering.

Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 70% + Laboratory and assignment work: 30%
