Synopsis: Twentieth-century approaches to performance theory including semiotics, theatre anthropology, feminist theory and methods of performance analysis will be considered. Application of theory to rehearsal, dramaturgy, audience research will be demonstrated and required.

Assessment: Essay (5000 words): 50% + Essay (2000 words) 25% + Seminar paper and participation (equivalent to 2000 words): 25%
