Synopsis: The implications for the study of development and of development theory of a number of the global crises. Major topics include the end of the Cold War, militarism in the third world, population growth, third world debt, gender and development, ethnicity and nationalism and religious fundamentalism.

Assessment: Report (3000 words): 33% + Research essay (6000 words): 67%
