Synopsis: The contribution of some major disciplines (politics, economics, anthropology, technology studies and health studies) to development studies. Debates within these disciplines relating to development. An experiential learning exercise involving the appraisal of a development assistance project.

Assessment: Essay (4000 words): 40% + Development project appraisal (5000 words): 60%
