SQL: language components, DDL, DML, VDL, SDL. Relationship to three schema architecture. Tables and views. Constraints. Enforcing integrity. The system catalog. Transactions: transaction concepts. ACID properties. Interleaving, lost updates, temporary updates, unrepeatable reads. Serialisability. Commits and rollbacks. Recovery concepts.
