Ground hazards and environmental geotechnics

Synopsis: Geotechnical engineering concepts applied to solve or minimise geo-hazard problems specific to domestic and hazardous waste containment facilities (landfills), contaminated sites, landslides, tailings dams and the issues of sustainability such as utlisation of underground space. Subject focuses on geotechnical aspects in the analysis, design and construction of waste containment facilities (landfills), redevelopment of old landfills, and contaminated site remediation.
