Synopsis: Part one: Mandarin. Introduction of phonetic system and phonology; the pinyin romanisation and the simplified character. Part two: Refer to Chinese Business Communication, part 1 CHI2450/3450/4459.

Assessment: Weekly oral/aural exercises: 40% + Written examination: 30% + Oral examination: 30%
