Language Study Abroad Program

(ART)

Robert Irving

12 points + 120 hours over eight weeks + Summer semester + Nanjing Normal University + Prerequisites: A first-year Chinese language sequence + Prohibitions: any equivalent Chinese language subjects already completed at Monash.

Synopsis: This subject will allow second year students to complete the equivalent of twelve points of Chinese language study in eight weeks of intensive in-country study. The subject will be offered as part of the Monash in-country Chinese program, between December and February at Nanjing Normal University, People's Republic of China. The level of the subject in which the student enrols is determined by the highest level of Chinese language previously completed. Subject content will be equivalent to that of the corresponding subject within the Chinese programs at Clayton and Peninsula. The workload for this subject will be not less than that required for two 6-point on-campus subjects at Monash.

Assessment: Assessment criteria will differ in accordance with actual subjects studied in country. These and their relationship with subject objectives will match assessment criteria for the equivalent on-campus Monash Chinese language subjects. Written and oral work will be assessed by Chinese language staff of both Monash University and the host institution.
