Synopsis: Specific projects will range widely and be designed to address extensive industry-type problems. The specific problems will vary from year to year. Examples of the type of design projects that might be considered include: design of a refinery heat recovery network rising commercial software; isopropyl alcohol production via direct hydration of propylene; separation of the isopropyl alcohol-water azeotropic by distillation; uprating the capacity of an ammonia liquor plant; heat-exchanger network synthesis using mathematical programming approaches; design of an operable heat exchanger network; design of a site utility and fuel system.
