Synopsis: This subject examines certain unlawful marketing and management practices including unfairly disadvantaging consumers and business rivals, unauthorised use of another's patents, trade marks or copyright, and harming the competitive process itself (for example price and market rigging agreements, restraints of trade, misuse of market power, exclusive dealing, third line forcing and resale price maintenance). Much of the subject focuses on the Trade Practices Act. The subject places the laws controlling unfair and anti-competitive practices within the wider economic context.
