Research methods for Behavioural Studies

6 points + 2 hours per week + First semester + Caulfield + Prerequisite: a minimum of 24 points of Behavioural Studies or with permission + Prohibition: PCE3040, SCY2261, SCY3261

Synopsis: The subject involves the study of the following topics: the nature of research; an overview of the research process; the selection and formulation of research questions; searching the literature; quantitative and qualitative research; planning and designing research; sampling; data collection techniques; processing, analysing and presenting data.

Assessment: Research proposal (1800 words): 40% + Written workshop paper (1400 words) and presentation: 30% + Two written reviews of research reports (650 words each): 30%
