Comparative cultural institutions

Synopsis: Students will learn about selected Australian and international cultural institutions. Specific places and institutions in Australia and overseas to be studied and visited include museums, libraries and galleries in Melbourne and on an international study tour. Students will undertake comparative case study investigations. International component will be in intensive mode in November. A visit to cultural tourism sites and institutions in the United Kingdom is anticipated.

Assessment: Literature review (1000 words): 20% + Two practical presentation / fieldwork assignments (1000 words each): 40% + Research essay / project (3000 words) 40%
