ANY3530Modernities in the making: indigenous peoples and colonial cultures(ART)
Penelope Graham 6 points + 2 hours per week + Second semester + Clayton + Prerequisites: A first-year sequence in Anthropology or History or Politics or Sociology or a cognate discipline or permission of the subject co-ordinator + Prohibitions: ANY2530/COS2530/COS3530 Synopsis: As for ANY2530. Assessment: Tutorial participation: 10% + Oral presentation (equivalent to 1000 words): 25% + Book review and comparative assessment of published reviews (1000 words): 25% + Essay (2000 words): 40% + For the book review exercise students doing the subject at third-year level must additionally locate two published reviews and contrast these with their own reading of the ethnography they have chosen, whereas students at second-year level need only review the ethnographic monograph according to the guidelines for writing a review provided in the subject hand-out. |
