Annette Van den Bosch 8 and 12 points + 2 hours per week + First semester + Clayton Synopsis: The sociology and history of institutions in the arts and their relationships to the development of markets and audiences in Australia and internationally in the post-war period. Differences between not-for-profit and commercial arts organisations. Program planning, audience research and volunteer management. Alternative models of housing the arts, and venue and project management. Key aspects of arts administration and funding for large organisations. Topics of particular interest include career and incomes in the arts, the interaction between federal, state and local agencies, relationships between Australian and international art worlds and markets, fundraising and sponsorship. Assessment: 8 points - Case study (1500 words): 25% Major research assignment (3000 words): 45% Seminar presentation and written paper: (1500 words): 30%. 12 points - Case study (2000 words): 20% Major research assignment (3000 words): 40% Seminar presentation and written paper (2000 words): 20% Project plan: (2000 words): 20% |
