Graduate Certificate in Health Risk Sciences*


General information

This course, offered by the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, aims to provide a program that will update health workers and regulators involved in risk management and communication with the necessary skills and their application to current health issues.
The course is completed in one year part-time. It is not offered on a full-time basis.
This degree allows students to gain basic knowledge and competence in assessing and managing public health risks, skills essential to the process of decision making and guiding public health policy in areas such as food, water, air and soil.
Applicants must have a medical degree, a bachelors degree with honours or graduate diploma, or a three-year bachelors degree with relevant professional experience in a health-related field. The department will individually assess applications from students with a nursing diploma completed before the introduction of nursing degrees.

Assessment is by written assignment, oral presentation and examination.
