Target group

This course is designed to meet the needs of teachers, mathematics coordinators, text and curriculum developers and lecturers at all levels wishing to increase their understanding of recent developments in research in mathematics education, as well as teachers and other educators who wish to gain higher qualifications and research expertise in mathematics education.

• EDF6107 Mathematics education in the information age
• EDF6401 Research on teaching and learning science and mathematics
• EDF6402 Research on science and mathematics curriculum

Elective subjects

• EDF6404 Assessment of student learning
• EDF6442 The impact of computer technology on education and society
• EDF6446 Computer programming for education
• or students may choose other elective subjects relevant to their course from those that are timetabled in 2001 after approval from the course coordinator

Research subject

A research elective such as EDF6001 (Research methodology) must be included if the student intends taking up a research project option.

Research project

• research project of approximately 10,000 words - 12 credit points (option two) or
• research project of approximately 20,000 words - 24 credit points (option three)
