Graduate Diploma of Education (Computers in Education)

The Graduate Diploma of Education (Computers in Education) is a professional course of study for educators from all sectors who wish to gain expertise and experience in computer applications in education. The course enables students to adapt their work to the particular requirements of their situation. As a result the course is able to cater to the full range of educational settings, from kindergarten through primary and post-primary to TAFE and tertiary teaching. The course is a recognised fourth year of study. It may also carry course credit for further study at masters level if students have completed four years of tertiary study at the time of entering the course.

Professional recognition

Completion of the Graduate Diploma of Education (Computers in Education) will enable secondary qualified and registered teachers to satisfy Victorian Department of Education, Employment and Training requirements for the secondary subject area - information technology.

Admission requirements

The normal entry requirement is an approved degree or three-year diploma and a recognised teaching qualification, or other qualifications or experience considered by the faculty to be equivalent to the above awards.

Special requirements

Prospective students must have access to a personal computer and modem.

Course outline

The course consists of the following eight six-credit-point subjects:

Year one
Year two

Length of course/workload required

The course is normally offered over two years of part-time study by distance education. The expected number of hours per week for a part-time student is 24.
