Monash University is Australia's largest university, with a student
population of 43,000 and 5200 staff, and with international students making
about 19 per cent of the total student enrolment.
Established in 1961, Monash has built an international reputation for
excellence in teaching and research.
Monash has eight campuses - six in Australia at Berwick, Caulfield, Clayton,
Gippsland, Parkville and Peninsula - and two international campuses, one in
Malaysia and another in South Africa.
The university has 10 faculties (Art and Design, Arts, Business and Economics,
Information Technology, Education, Engineering, Law, Medicine, Pharmacy, and
Science). This mixture enables Monash to provide a comprehensive range of
courses in a diversity of disciplines which provide professional qualifications
in a great number of areas.
Monash University also uses a variety of teaching styles, including academics
teaching in conventional classrooms, electronic hook-up across campuses
(teleteaching), open learning and distance education.
