The following should be read in conjunction with the statement on the Bachelor
of Commerce and the Bachelor of Science in the Science section of this
handbook.
The double-degree course of Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Science
requires a minimum of four years full-time study, or five years for a degree
with honours, or the equivalent in part-time study. Admission to this double
degree is based on a combination of the entry requirements for the Bachelor of
Commerce and Bachelor of Science degrees. Students must complete subjects to a
minimum value of 200 credit points over the length of the course of which 108
points should come from subjects offered by the Faculty of Business and
Economics (Clayton) and 92 points should come from subjects offered in the
Bachelor of Science.
There is a substantial degree of flexibility in the course structure, with only
ECC1000, ECC1010, ETC1020, ETC1031, AFC1021/AFC1022, AFC1031/AFC1032, MGC1020 and MGX1010
(48 credit points) being compulsory. Students can choose the mix of commerce
and science subjects taken in each year of study provided at least 12 points of
both commerce and science are taken in the first year of enrolment. The course
structure is shown in chart 14 in the section 'Charts of degree structures'.
This degree is recognised by all professional bodies that recognise either the Bachelor of Commerce or the Bachelor of Science as meeting academic requirements for membership. For all professional bodies, membership is dependent upon the correct choice of subjects by students.
