This double degree provides students with a major in psychology, a minor in
another arts field of study and a sequence of studies in education leading to
registration as a primary or secondary teacher.
The major sequence in psychology is a common program offered on the Caulfield, Clayton and Gippsland campuses by the Department of Psychology. The Australian Psychological Society accredited major comprises 10 six-point subjects: nine core and one elective subject.
A
candidate for the double degree must fulfil the following requirements to
receive the awards of Bachelor of Arts (Psychology and Humanities)/Bachelor of
Education:
(a) complete a total of 196 but not more than 216 points
(b) complete a major sequence in psychology (60 points) and an arts minor
sequence (28 points) offered by the School of Humanities, Communications and
Social Sciences
(c) complete the prescribed sequence offered by the Faculty of Education
(96 points)
(d) undertake additional arts elective to complete the 196 points needed
for the degree.

The arts minor sequences in the primary stream may be chosen from sociology, history-politics, Koorie studies, Indonesian, writing or mass communications. The arts minor sequences in the secondary stream may be chosen from sociology, history-politics, Koorie studies, Indonesian (only if studied at VCE level) or mass communications.
