The Diploma of Arts (Koorie Studies) is a two-year full-time course open to
Koorie people, designed to assist students to explore Koorie cultures,
histories and traditions. The course provides knowledge and skills to enhance
employment prospects and to develop a greater awareness of lifestyle
alternatives. The course seeks to contribute towards the maintenance of Koorie
culture and to enable students to become actively and constructively involved
in the process of self-determination.
To be admitted to the course for the Diploma of Arts (Koorie Studies), applicants are required to present for an interview for selection. Participants will be chosen from those who demonstrate an understanding of, and an interest in, Koorie culture and heritage.
To
qualify for the Diploma of Arts (Koorie Studies), a candidate shall:
(a) complete a total of 96 points of study
(b) complete all of the prescribed subjects specific to Koorie studies
(c) follow the necessary prerequisites and corequisites as set out in the
subject descriptions for level 1.
To proceed to level 2, students must normally satisfactorily complete the
requirements of 75 per cent of level 1 of the course. In order to graduate
however, students are expected to satisfactorily complete all subjects of study.
The level 1 subjects listed above are valued at six credit points each, while the second-level subjects are valued at eight points each, thus meeting the 96-credit-point requirement to graduate.
