24 hours of lectures, 20 hours of sterile dispensing training at a hospital training site as part of an Advanced Practical Experience (APE), 15 hours of workshops

Synopsis: Biopharmaceutics - peroral, buccal, rectal, percutaneous, ocular, nasal, vaginal, parenteral and protein delivery. Therapeutic drug monitoring - prediction of dosage. Use of population paratmeters. Bayesian and probability methods. Applied pharmaceutics - the application of pharmaceutics including the knowledge of the physico-chemical properties of the drug, formulation strategies, biopharmaceutics and pharmacokinetics to understanding the dosage form and the implications for its use in practice. Sterile dispensing - asceptic manipulation skills and clean room practices, standards and practices of preparation, dispensing and manufacture of sterile pharmaceuticals including cytotoxic drugs.

Assessment: End-of-semester examination (June) (2 hours): 60% + Workshop assignments: 25% + Sterile dispensing: 15%
