3 points + 2 studio hours and 4 independent study hours per week + Second semester + Caulfield

Synopsis: The role of design in communicating and shaping experience. Language and typography. The function of signs in contemporary media. Speculative projects designed to introduce issues and ideas relevant to design discourse. Students demonstrate a critical awareness of design and develop research methodology through class critique seminars.
