Synopsis: Introduction to visual perception including colour vision, the perception of space and depth, and their application in art and design. Origins of mental imagery and the role of imagination in the mental life of individuals. Theories about the formation of symbols and the functioning of visual symbols in society and culture. Empirical studies of the formation of aesthetic judgment and the factors which influence such judgment in the individual and society.

Assessment: Exercise (1000 words): 30% + Written assignment (2000 words): 70%
