Nineteenth-century Spanish literature

Synopsis: The different forms of literary/artistic forms that took hold in Spain during the nineteenth century. Starting with a study of romantic poetry and drama, the emphasis will be on the novels written after 1868, in an attempt to establish the relationship between /La Gloriosa0 (the revolution of 1868), the society it sought to establish and the new forms novel-writing took in the late 1800s.

Assessment: Two take-home exams: 40% + Reading controls: 20% + Final essay (2500 words): 40%
