Synopsis: The evolution of stereotypes in the relations between Asian and European peoples and their reproduction in the modern world through film, television and literature. How processes associated with globalisation are eroding the salience of these stereotypical views and how this threatens the power of certain political elites. The rejuvenation of an East versus West discourse in modern international diplomacy and what this will mean for a future world order.
