Synopsis: This subject introduces the debate about citizenship as Australia enters a globalising world. What new problems are posed by this world context? Are existing theories and practices of citizenship adequate to meet a world where a nation-state is less important than it has been? What new multicultural and transnational approaches are proposed?

Assessment: Essay (3000 words): 50% + Examination (3 hours): 50%
