Synopsis: Scientific imaging methods including ultrasound, infra-red, x-rays and gamma-rays, and computed tomography. Specialised methods of medical imaging (PET, MRI). Interactions of various radiations with living and inorganic materials and with the environment. Instrumentation. Acquisition of information from detectors and the transmission, processing, display and quality of data and signals. The scientific and medical uses of radioisotopes, lasers and electromagnetic radiations. Energy conversion and conservation, including nuclear energy and renewable energy sources.
Assessment: Examinations (2 x 2 hours): 60% + Practical work: 25% + Tests, assignments, project: 15%
