Synopsis: Within the context of a visual art practice studyents will be introduced ot the medium of photography. Students will become familiar with a range of contemporary and historical photographic images and will develop an understanding of the role of photography in contemporary visual art practice. Through participating in a program of lectures, tutorials and workshops stuents will develop a conceptual understanding whilst simultaneously acquiring photographic skills, including 35mm camera technique and black and white processing and printing.

Assessment: Major self determined project (50%), set projects(20%), journal (20%) and participation (10%).
