Synopsis: A survey of some themes in ethics and metaphysics in the thought of Socrates, Plato and Aristotle. Topics include the place of moral virtues and philosophical investigation in the good life; the immortality of the soul; Plato's theory of recollection; the theory of Forms; the nature of time; infinity and Zeno's paradoxes.

Assessment: Two essays (2500 words each): 40% each + Examination (1 hour): 20%
