Synopsis: Introduction to the sociology of law: how the legal system, the profession and its various instrumentalities control, respond to and are shaped by society. Policy implications of the sociology of law, especially the role of the theory, philosophy and research in the creation of practical programs of reform. The history of drug regulation is taken as a focus for the application of theoretical concepts.
Assessment: Major paper (3000 words): 50% + Seminar paper (4 pages): 30% + Seminar presentation: 10% + Peer feedback contribution: 10%
