Synopsis: Introduction to basic concepts of physics, chemistry and biology underlying nursing practice. Measurement, forces and energy; the structure of matter, chemical reactions, and the chemistry of body fluids; the levels of body organisation of the human body; and the means whereby body functions are integrated. The structure, function and pathology of the cardiovascular system.

Assessment: Mid-semester examination: 15% + Laboratory work: 30% + End-of-semester examination: 55%
