Financial issues in health care management

Synopsis: This subject covers financial management issues confronting clinically-based managers and develops skills in the management of budgets and in the analysis of financial data. Key areas include the concepts of the balance sheet and profit and loss account; the distinctions between cash flow, accounting profit and taxable income; the role of budgets and the various approaches to costing; and reporting against budgets. The subject includes strategies to optimise resource use, cost-containment strategies and the development and presentation of business plans.
