The principles behind the spread of different infectious diseases such as the basic reproductive rate will be covered for micro parasites. The differences between sexually transmitted diseases and other infections (eg measles) will be explained. Once these concepts have been covered, other more complex issues such as preventing outbreaks, designing vaccination strategies and planning strategies for the control of sexually transmitted diseases will be covered.
