Synopsis: Applications of epidemiological techniques to clinical research including clinical diagnostic strategies, clinical agreement measurement and disagreement minimisation strategies, diagnostic test selection, diagnostic data interpretation, sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive value, likelihood ratios, clinical decision analysis, screening, prognosis, optimising therapy, compliance, treatment side effects and critical appraisal of the literature. Clinical research methodology including determining optimal research design, clinical trial design and analysis, bias, practical aspects, ethical considerations, blinding, data analysis, result interpretation and validation.
