Synopsis: The impact of the external and global environment on human resource strategy formulation. Special emphasis will be given to strategic human resource choices facing the organisation in the areas of staffing; employee development; performance management; compensation; flexibility and organisational restructuring.

Assessment: On campus (group presentation and assignment, 30%; class participation, 10%; individual written assignment of 4000 words, 60%): 100% + Distance (individual written assignments of 4000 words, 60%; examination, 40%): 100%
