Synopsis: Industry associations and organisations; the Australian federal government role in tourism; State, regional and local government tourism organisations; the who, what and why of planning; research for tourism development; handling and processing international travellers; travel agent operations; legal constraints for transport and tour operations; insurance for the travel and tourism industry; legal constraints for hotel managers; food and beverage operators; trade practices legislation for hospitality and tourism; legal issues when problems arise.

Assessment: Two assignments (2000 words each): 50% + Examination (3 hours): 50%
