Introduction to management: managing people and organisations

(BUS)

6 points + Two 1-hour lectures and one 1-hour tutorial per week + First and second semester + Clayton

Synopsis: This subject focuses upon issues related to managing people in organisations. It examines the systems and institutions within which an organisation operates; human resource management practices; and the external institutions that influence the management of people. Contemporary issues include the principles and practices by which organisational change is introduced and managed.

Assessment: On campus: Tutorial participation: 10% + Assignments of 1500 words (15%) and 2500 words (25%) + Examination (2 hours): 50% + Distance: Two asisgnments each of 2500 words: 50% + Examination (2 hours): 50%
