Synopsis: Reversible work, availability and irreversibility. Vapour power plant. Modern thermal power station practice. Compressible flow. Numerical solution applied to unsteady flow processes. Steady and unsteady state conduction, extended surfaces, numerical solution to two-dimensional conduction problems. Dimensional analysis applied to forced and natural convection. Heat transfer during condensation and evaporation. Heat exchangers.
