Synopsis: An introduction to some important issues in language in education, including oracy, literacy and computer mediated communication, classroom discourse, language and disadvantage, language attitudes and language policy and literacy issues in the Australian context.

Assessment: Written assignments (3000 words): 40% + Class paper (1500 words): 30% + Class test (1.5 hours): 30%
