Wills and Administration of Estates

Synopsis: This subject is concerned with the development of practical skills in the drafting of wills, preparation of probate, and administration of estates. The particular skills to be addressed are legal research and analysis, awareness and use of learning strategies, practice management, oral and written communication, and negotiation. The values that will be considered include the recognition and resolution of ethical conflicts, awarenss of personal values and understanding of professional values.

Assessment: Regular feedback will be provided on written exercises and oral presentation on interviewing client for instructions for a will and drafting the will - 50%. Written memoranda and draft documents totalling 10,000 words and a minumum of 2 oral presentations of about 15 minutes each - 50%. Assessment will be according to the grades "credit", "pass" or "fail".
