24 points + First or second semester, but preferably full year + Clayton + Prerequisites: JPS3072/JPL3072 or JAL4610/5610 or with the permission of the graduate coordinator

Synopsis: A substantial research project under the direction of a supervisor in the department, and a dissertation of 15,000 to 18,000 words. The 24-point dissertation is the preferred way of taking the research component in the Masters Qualifying (Japanese studies). (It can be replaced with one or both of Research paper A or Research paper B in Japanese studies).
