6 points + 5 hours per week + First semester + Clayton + Prerequisites: JLG4220 or equivalent

Synopsis: A consolidation and development of students0 knowledge of Japanese at intermediate level. The study of Japanese systematic grammar, spoken language and contemporary written language. Recognition of 250 newly introduced Kanji (in total 750). Language acquisition through active interaction in and out of the classroom. The interaction which occurs in situations in Australia is emphasised.

Assessment: Listening comprehension test: 15% + Speaking test: 10% + Quizzes and three assignments: 30% + Mid-semester test (50 minutes): 15% + Final examination (2 hours): 30%
