6 points + 3 hours per week + First semester + Peninsula + Prerequisites: completion of at at least four first-year subjects in the major

Synopsis: This subject is designed to prepare students to engage in social research. The subject has two major thrusts: one is to assist students in identifying and defining social issues which are worthy of research and the other is to impart to students the basic methodological skills needed to design and implement a research project.The subject will introduce students to ways of collecting information including surveying and interviewing, doing field research, participating in social events and analyzing written texts.

Assessment: Three class tests: 30% + Statement identifying a research problem (1000 words): 10% + Research proposal (2500 words): 40% + Examination (1 hour): 20%
