Synopsis: Fundamental concepts in industrial automation; kinematics - object location, position velocity, and dynamics to control automated machineries; FMS hierarchical computer network and controls; analysis of products for selecting production techniques and machine tools; automated material handling and storage; automated inspection and storage; control system for FMS; integration of MRPII, JIT, simulation and animation tools.

Assessment: Class test: 10% + Tutorials, laboratory work and minor projects: 30% + Examination: 60%
