Synopsis: Properties of fluids and their measurement. Thermodynamic properties of substances and the behavior of gases. Control volume analysis: conservation of mass and energy leading to the first law of thermodynamics and the Bernoulli equation. Case studies on a number of typical industrial thermo-fluid systems including the related concepts of energy management, monitoring and use.

Assessment: Examination (2 hours): 70% + Laboratory work and assignments: 30%.
