Borderworks: theorising gendered experience

Synopsis: Cultural variety of the constructions, social performances and positioning of gendered identities in contemporary multicultural Australia. The emphasis is on developing frameworks for understanding /lived experience0 and on the relationship between gender and power. Beginning with a consideration of /valid knowledges0, the subject offers an historical overview of the project of women0s studies, before turning to the approaches to the relations between women and men proposed in the interdisciplinary /borderwork0 of gender studies.

Assessment: Journal Part A (1800 words): 30% + Journal Part B (1800 words): 30% + Major essay (2400 words): 40%
