Synopsis: Deflection using strain energy. Stresses in thick-walled cylinders due to internal and external pressures. Stresses in rotating discs. Contact stresses. Experimental stress analysis including strain gauging and photo-elasticity. Inelastic bending and torsion. Residual stresses. Plasticity of metals with application including evaluations of forces required in some applications such as rolling of metal strips, extrusion, tube sinking, etc.
