Synopsis: Australia's political institutions and practices, including recent policy developments. The role of government, the relationship between executive, legislative and judicial branches as well as their impact on society. The nature and roles of key actors and the policy framework. The importance of liberal-democratic institutions in the Australian federal system.

Assessment: Essay one (1500 words): 20% + Essay two (2500 words): 50% + Exam (2 hours): 30%
