Synopsis: The genealogy of four keywords in Australian policy discourse, namely /region0, /dependence0, /sustainability0 and /class0. Definitional tensions (environmental determinist vs social constructionist definitions of the region; economic meanings of dependence vs independence and the shifting attribution of these terms to industries, regions and social groups; ecological vs economic meanings of sustainability; and categorical vs processual meanings of class) and the way they have informed policy agendas and planning interventions.
Assessment: Written (6000 words): 70% + Tutorial: 10% + Practical work: 20%
